Minimum Wage Rates in Maryland & D.C. are About to Go Up

The Maryland minimum wage rate increases from $9.25 per hour of work to $10.10 starting on July 1, 2018.

The minimum wage for workers in Montgomery County will go up even higher, increasing to $12.25 an hour for employers with 51 or more employees and $12 an hour for employers with 50 employees or less, both commencing on July 1.

In the District of Columbia, the minimum wage increases to $13.25 an hour, also effective on July 1.

Laws provide for penalty damages against employers who cheat their workers out of proper wages and also cover attorney's fees. Therefore, a worker can actually recover two to three times the amount of owed wages -- and attorney fees, as well.

If you have not been paid the proper minimum wages or are owed wages from an employer for any reason, the experienced employment attorney at Lebau & Neuworth can get you the money you are owed. Contact Lebau & Neuworth at 888-456-2529 or lebauneuworth.com/contact-us.
