Thomas Jefferson: The Art of Power, by J. Meacham - Very good biography and analysis, offers good insights about Jefferson as a pragmatic politician.
Zeitoun, by D. Eggers - Excellent read about survival during and days after Hurricane Katrina, very compelling.
The Madness of Mary Todd Lincoln, by J. Emerson - Interesting read about an interesting character who just happened to be the spouse of Abraham Lincoln.
Everybody Says Hello, by M. Kun - A very funny read book from a not so bad management labor lawyer.
The Cave, by Saramago - Good story about a potter facing the end of his time and career in a modern world. Beautifully written, requires time to appreciate.
Catherine the Great, by Massie - Good insights to an amazing woman ruler who tried to help the serfs. Times were tough back then, and very cold in Russia.
Instanbul, by Pamuk - A fun book to read before one of us went on a trip to Turkey.
1493, by Mann - Extremely interesting history, explanations and insights offered about North America post-Columbus –culture, agriculture, trade, etc.
11/22/63, by King - Great tale; the first Stephen King book read by an one of us.
My American Journey, by Powell - An impressive biography. Favorite Powell quote: "Being responsible sometimes means pissing people off."
