Unlocking Hidden Value in Workers Compensation Cases
Lebau & Neuworth attorney Richard Neuworth had the honor recently of making a special presentation to the Maryland Association of Justice (M.A.J.) on "Unlocking Hidden Value in Workers' Compensation Cases." The presentation focused on three key goals:
- Increasing the value of existing workers compensation cases;
- Showing how workers' compensation injuries and illnesses unlock many other claims that exist in a parallel universe alongside the workers' compensation case; and
- Learning how to ask a few additional questions so that these additional claims may work for both you and your client's benefit.
Within the presentation to the M.A.J., Richard zeroed-in on the Key Issues in workers' compensation cases: Compensability; Average Weekly Wage; Medical Treatment and Bills; Temporary Total Disability; Permanent Partial Disability; Second Tier Cases; Serious Disability Cases; Permanent Total Cases; Subsequent Injury Fund Liability; and Vocational Rehabilitation.
Specifically, Richard went into great detail on various Parallel Universe of Claims with Workers' Compensation cases, featuring in-depth analysis for handling:
- Social Security Disability and Workers' Compensation cases;
- Federal and State Wage and Hour Laws and Workers' Compensation cases;
- Tax Fraud and Workers' Compensation cases;
- Discrimination and Workers' Compensation cases;
- FMLA and Workers' Compensation cases;
- Paid and Unpaid Sick Leave and Workers' Compensation cases;
- Medicare Secondary Payer Act and Workers' Compensation cases;
