A recent outcry has arised as a result of a Maryland Judge Bruce Lamdin's insensitive comments to a female victim of domestic abuse. A formal complaint with the Maryland Judicial Disabilities Commission has been filed against Judge Lamdin. According to The Baltimore Sun, a state senator is also calling for the judge's removal.
The Maryland Judicial Disabilities Commission has the power to investigate the Complaint and to file charges against the judge which may lead to discipline. The Commission expressly states that: "a judge's behavior that may constitute sanctionable conduct" includes "inappropriate or demeaning courtroom conduct, such as yelling, profanity, or racist, sexist or other discriminating comments".
