BIO

Devan M. Wang represents clients in Federal and state employment matters, including violations of Federal and state wage-and-hour, discrimination and leave laws. He has represented hundreds of workers in collective-action cases for owed minimum wages, commissions, pay for working through lunch breaks and overtime pay. Devan also represents clients in all aspects of the Social Security Disability benefits application and appeals process.

Devan’s most notable recent cases include several separate Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) collective actions seeking unpaid overtime wages on behalf of a total of over 600 plaintiffs. He has also successfully represented clients before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in areas including disability discrimination under the American’s with Disabilities Act (ADA) and race and gender discrimination under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act. Most recently, Devan successfully resolved multiple matters involving interference and retaliation claims brought under the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA).

Devan is an active member of Maryland Association of Justice, the National Employment Lawyer’s Association and the Metropolitan Washington Employment Lawyer’s Association.

Devan earned his law degree from American University’s Washington College of Law, where he focused on disability and employment discrimination. Throughout law school, Devan interned with the Washington Lawyers’ Committee, where he worked on its Disability Rights and Equal Employment Opportunity projects and assisted on various disability and employment discrimination cases.

Devan also served as a student attorney with the Washington College of Law’s Disability Rights Clinic. As a student attorney, he represented clients in special-education issues arising under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), helping to develop and ensure the proper implementation of the students’ IEPs. In addition, he served as Guardian Ad Litem and helped resolve numerous issues with clients’ Social Security Disability benefits.

In his spare time, Devan enjoys all aspects of making homemade apple cider, including building and designing equipment to crush and press fresh apples. He is also an avid reader and enjoys spending time at home reading with his dogs.
