The Daily Record, Maryland's leading legal publication, has spotlighted Lebau & Neuworth's efforts to get owed wages for a class of employees at a Maryland casino.  See  Casino Sued for Overtime, The Daily Record (Aug. 8, 2013): A1. The newspaper highlighted the case, reporting as follows:

    Women Seek Class-Action Status For

Claims of Short Pay At Maryland Live

Three former employees claim Maryland Live Casino owes them a payout--- and not from the slot machines. DeAnna Ganzermiller, a former benefits coordinator, Jennifer McMorrow, a former staff accountant, and Rhonda Sprinkle, a former payroll department employee, claim the casino failed to pay them overtime wages. Each seeks class-action status for the complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Baltimore against PPE Casino Resorts Maryland LLC, the Baltimore company that owns Maryland Live. Each woman alleges that she often worked 50-60 hour weeks and her salary was never adjusted to account for the forced overtime and that similarly situated employees were treated in the same way. This case is now pending in the Maryland federal court. Lebau & Neuworth regularly handle overtime claims under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and the Maryland Wage & Hour Law. We represent workers who have working for years yet not been paid proper wages under the law.  Sometimes the employer claims the employee is exempt from the FLSA, because the employee is "salaried," or for other technical reason.  Not so fast.  While some employees, like professionals such as doctors or independent contractors such as a plumber with his own tools, schedule, and truck, may be exempt, it comes down to a case by case basis. When employers jump the gun, we are more than willing to take them to court to obtain justice.  Beforehand, we carefully analyze each case to ensure its merit.  If you believe you are not being paid overtime or not all of your wages, commissions, etc. give us a call or email us through our website at www.lebauneuworth.com
